Chaaye Khana

I have been to Chaaye Khana at all possible times, after an early morning hike, for brunch, lunch, in the afternoon all the way to late evenings, and it’s always crowded, for good reason too! Few other places can match Chaaye Khana’s warm, welcoming ambiance, and food that has managed to maintain the same quality standard over the years. The generous use of dark wood, chocolate brown hues and brick facades makes the interior very cozy and comfortable.
I may have easily tried over half of the items on their menu simply because of how frequently I visit, and nothing really disappoints. From the very large selection of teas, the Chaaye Khana special is one of my favorites, served with condensed cardamom flavored milk. Clear teas and cold beverages are pretty good also. Breakfast is served all day (yay!) and is very satisfying, whether it’s the parathas, omelettes, the popular Garlic Mushroom on Toast, or the pancakes and crepes.
Amongst the snacks, I absolutely love the assorted pakora basket that comes with a delicious chutney, the assorted samosas and the Buffalo wings. Quesadillas here, served with sour cream and salsa, are one of the better ones I’ve had anywhere in Islamabad. One of the most popular desserts at Chaaye Khana  is the French Toast, a delectable thick bread baked in-house that is crispy on the outside, gooey on the inside and sweet in a balanced way.
After a filling meal, the bill usually doesn’t give you a heart attack, which is terrific. Prices are reasonable and the overall experience will keep you coming back for more. I highly recommend a visit to anyone who hasn’t tried it yet.

Kabul Restaurant

If you’re looking for great Afghani food in Islamabad, look no further. Kabul Restaurant in Jinnah Super Market F-7 has held thousands captive for years, with its mouth watering tikkas, kebabs and Kabuli Pulao. They’ve got everything going right for them, the food quality and taste, the location, the affordable prices. All of that keeps bringing customers back. Kabul in fact happens to be a favorite with tourists and visitors to the city as well, because of the food’s suitability for all kinds of palates.
I personally am quite a carnivore so whenever I’m in the mood to have meat, Kabul is my go-to place. My family has had a set menu for years, which comprises of beef tikkas and beef kababs, both of which are served on skewers, and Kabuli pulao, which is served with a beef and lentil gravy. These things have literally never let us down, the tikkas and kababs are always piping hot, tikka skewers with pieces of fat and kebabs with grilled tomatoes, all of which breakdown into an explosion of flavor in the mouth especially when you first dunk them into the mouthwatering green vinegar-based chutney that comes along with them. The Pulao, made using beef and garnished with caramelized carrots and raisins, is divine.
Kabul has both indoor and outdoor seating. The set up, furniture, interior etc are very rudimentary. Which is why though it may not be an ideal setting for an anniversary dinner, it is just perfect if you’re looking for a casual place to have a hearty, delicious meal at without paying a fortune. If you live in Islamabad you most likely have visited this gem of a place at least once, if you haven’t though, it’s a must try!

Burning Brownie

Burning Brownie is my favorite go-to hangout spot whether it is for a quick coffee, work, a meeting or a meal. This café has really got its stuff right, whether it’s their salads, sandwiches or desserts, everything on their limited menu is perfectly delicious.  The warehouse-ish interior of both their cafes, the one in F11 and that in Blue Area, is very chic and modern. The ambience is energetic, making it a favorite place for young people to work out of or just hang out.
My favorite item on their menu is the Green and Healthy salad, a delightful mix of greens, juicy Granny Smith apples, sundried tomatoes, grapes, chicken cubes, walnuts, pine nuts and grated parmesan. The tangy vinaigrette dressing, the composition of which is a mystery to me, is just perfect! The only other salad is the Noodles and Beef Salad, which is also great, and you can order a combination of both salads as another option. Since I go there so often I’ve tried almost every sandwich on their menu, the grilled cheese, the grilled vegetarian, the grilled chicken/beef, all are served with a portion of salad and air roasted potatoes, and all are delectable
Dessert at Burning Brownie does not disappoint either. The chocolate mint and chocolate orange pastries are silky and melt in one’s mouth, their sweetness level just right. BB is known for its cheesecakes, including their original Ras Malai cheese cake. A recent addition to the menu is the French Toast, loaded with chocolaty goodness and served with whipped cream on the side. Burning Brownie has fairly reasonable prices so is not heavy on the pocket. The overall experience there is always satisfactory.

Asian Wok

The latest Asian restaurant that has taken the capital by is Asian Wok. Hidden in the basement of Beverly Centre in Islamabad, Asian Wok promises an experience from the moment you step in. The fact that the restaurant is owned and run by the Monal group raises one’s expectations, but they really live up to those expectations too.

For starters, the décor is stunning. You enter the space and it is inevitable to see the effort that went into planning the design, aesthetics, furniture, colour combinations, influence of Asian culture, cherry blossoms and the perfect lighting. Guests are served a complimentary mint margarita and crackers when they place their order to enjoy/pass the time until their food arrives. From the appetizer menu, we tried the Sesame Honey Chili Chicken and the Stuffed Chili Prawns. Both the dishes stood out in their taste and left us craving for more.

Among the mains, we tried the safe and simple Chicken Manchurian, Chicken in Hot Garlic Sauce, Mongolian Chicken and the Szechuan Fish. I was utterly disappointed by the Chicken Manchurian; it seemed bland and a little too orange, but the rest of the main courses made up for it. Chicken in Hot Garlic Sauce was a breath of fresh air, which had stir fried chicken with onions, green chilies, capsicum, red carrots flavoured in an interestingly spicy garlic sauce. Mongolian Chicken was a similar blend of ingredients with beet sprouts in an entirely different sauce and Mongolian spices.

We also tried the Molten Lava Cake and the Bread Pudding, and both looked so beautiful that touching them felt like destroying pieces of art. To ensure you have a great end to your experience, Asian Wok served a complimentary and delicious cup of green tea, which shows the effort they put into making your experience memorable. I’d suggest you try Asian Wok because If you haven’t yet, you’re missing out.

Doka Mocca

If someone asks me a place for good Panini, I recommend Doka Mocca without even a second thought. Without a doubt I can claim their Panini’s to be the best one’s across twin cities. This place and I go back to the high school days, when there were little or no go-to places for inexpensive breakfast and brunching in my school’s vicinity.

Four years later, they have managed to maintain the exact same taste, hygiene standards, servings, and more surprisingly: Prices! It isn’t a super fancy place, at a super fancy location with a super fancy menu. Nevertheless, they’ve managed to keep things exciting. Visited there a few days back and both the Crazy and Jalapeño panini were divine. Filled with a fine amount of chicken, mayo, cheese and dressings. Not only was the taste delightful but the quantity was also enough to satisfy one individual. The chocolate thick shake was sweet and appealing. The sweetness was accurate and had a fine blend of all the ingredients.

There are just 4-5 tables including the quaint and cozy bamboo huts in an all outdoor seating. It's a beautiful, small and cozy outdoor setting that adds to the tasty food. Service is friendly but remember everything is cooked, so the serving time could be long anywhere between 30-40 mins. Doka Mocca has been polishing and mastering its down-to-the-basics, quintessential drunk-food sort of menu over the years, offering better value for money than most of the competition. By the way, Total bill for Paninis, French fries and a Chocolate Shake came out to be slightly less than Rs.1000.

BBQ Bazaar

Ramzan is here, searching for an amazing place to have iftar with your family? BBQ bazar, located in F-7 Markaz Islamabad, is the place to go!

This restaurant was suggested to me by my friend for iftar with my family. I decided to go and check this place out yesterday and I must say its a delightful place to visit with your family and friends. They have very simple furniture and a very plain look, which is quite refreshing. They also have a little area for outside sitting.

Now the food part: in their iftar menu there were a lot of items you have like 9 items in their iftar menu, 4 items in salads, 3 in drinks, 9 items in dinner and 4 in desserts . The taste of the food was good overall, but their service was perfect because there can be a lot of haphazardness in iftar timing but they managed it very well and served their customers successfully.

Our whole bill was about 6k which I must say is worth paying for having an amazing iftar with lots of variety. One more thing, if you do not have Ramzan buffet you can have 15% discount on your bill. So hurry up before it's too late.

OPTP

Life drains you out sometimes but at least they still make French fries. OPTP is famous for its Belgium style fries which are its main product. OPTP is like a second home to me. I eat its burgers and fries almost once a week. Not to forget their crispy fried chicken. I have never tasted that kind of chicken in whole Pakistan. Their menu includes, natural hand cut fries, zing fried chicken, burgers, hot sausages, nuggets and fries, chicken wings, salads and beverages.

They provide a wide range of fries to choose from. And all are exceptionally tasty. They let you choose from a variation of sizes i.e. regular, original and jumbo. Their fries menu includes, plain fries, masala fries, BBQ fries, cheddar cheese fries, garlic mayo fries, and hot garlic mayo fries.

Usually, I have a fixed menu here, I go for zing burger or jalapeno premium burger along with mayo garlic or hot mayo garlic fries, rarely masala fries. Also, my absolute favorite is their zing chicken whose even aroma is mouth-watering. Another very appealing thing about OPTP is that they prepare food in front of their costumers so that they can observe the levels of hygiene.

They give you various amount of combos, reasonable prices and quantity is more than enough for a single person. They have 50 outlets all over Pakistan. Initially it started in 1998 in Karachi, where two foodie brothers in love with fries started a journey of making the best fries one has ever tasted. And now after not a very long time OPTP serves best fries in the whole country.

Shakespeare Lounge

Have you ever tried an eatery with homemade recipes and exquisite interior that gives you a cozy vibe? If not, then Shakespeare lounge located in F-7 Markaz is something that you must give a try as this will give you exactly the same flavor and vibe you are looking for. It is the most under rated eatery in Islamabad in terms of good quality food in reasonable price. I heard about it from a friend of mine and to be honest I wasn’t expecting such a mind blowing experience.

In terms of ambience its name gives away a lot. It is basically a Shakespeare inspired cafe, they have kept it very conventional yet you can get a cozy literature vibe from that place. When it comes to food I can assure you that you will the most delicious chicken dishes from there. All of these are homemade recipes but their dishes name in menu is inspired by Shakespeare novels so it’s little hard to understand at first but the staff over there is so cooperative and nice that they explain it to you very patiently and briefly.

The best part which I saw over here is that they can alter their recipes according to your wish I ordered Hemlet pocket chicken (price:850) it was very tasty moist chicken dish filled with cottage cheese and roasted tomatoes, that was served with fries and grilled vegetables and according to their recipe it’s a red sauce dish but on my request they changed it to mushroom sauce. My other friends ordered honey mustard chicken it was also mouth-watering with good portion size to fulfill one-person appetite.

Food came on time and the staff was kind enough to give us complimentary dessert which was fudge cake and was the perfect thing to fulfill our craving for something sweet. Shakespeare is a highly recommended place from my end and you can try anything from their main course it will not disappoint you at all as far as price factor is concerned they are not charging you a lot all the dishes are under 1000 rupees which is perfectly fine for a cafe providing fast food. The overall experience was worth the money you are giving there.

Hurry up! go visit Shakespeare lounge, they are offering lunch and dinner deals which are there for a limited time.

What a Paratha

Are you looking for something desi and with some sort of different flavors embed in it? Yes? Here it is for what you are looking for  “WHAT’A PARATHA” located in F-7 Markaz Islamabad. Which was suggested to me from my friend which I would say absolutely worth going there. When you are slightly hungry and carving something different to eat do go there just like I do.
After scanning the brightly colored menu with dozens of mouth-watering options, which include different flavors in toasts for their breakfast menu different types of wraps, and parathas like special, traditional and meetha. Which is basically their specialty, I decided to order the Barbeque paratha; composed of tender, smoky chicken with a fiery blend of spices and I’ve also tried others flavors too like pizza paratha, Nutella paratha and pepperoni cheese paratha which I loved and I would suggest to give a try these flavors and it would definitely worth eating and paying.
In no more than 20 minutes, the food arrived at our table. The inviting aroma and freshness was enough to make my mouth drool. On top of that, the mayo dip that was served with the paratha made a perfect combination. These parathas are not much costly which are not more than 400 Rs which would be definitely worth paying. What a Paratha's relaxed ambiance accompanied with scintillating fairy lights made our al fresco supper all the more enjoyable.  I would say it's an amazing place for a hangout with friends, or a quick bite. Another thing that makes this restaurant so pleasant is their staff; from the moment we entered the restaurant to when we payed the bill, they were absolutely cooperative and displayed hospitality.
So, hurry up and try best parathas in the town.

Yum Chinese & Thai

Yums high tea is creating a buzz in food stories of Islamabad and why wouldn’t it. Where does you get all the Chinese food which includes chow mien fried rice one beef dish, three chicken gravy dishes, one fish dish, prawns, burgers, pasta, pizza, chicken wings, drumstick, array of salads and delicious desserts for 1100 rupees.

The best part of the high tea is that you can get as much mint margarita and Pena colada as much you want, tea and green tea was also available.it was one my best experience as far as high teas are concerned the staff over there was very considerate and friendly despite of a lot of people there was no problem of refills all the dishes were refilled on time. The ambiance of Yums is very classy they have indoor as well as outdoor arrangement on the roof top and you can choose where ever you want to sit. They have their own parking space where there is option for valet parking which is very convenient.

There timings are from 4:30 to 7:00 and you can call them at any time for any inquiry and they respond you immediately. There only problem which I faced over there is that there was long line of people waiting so you shouldn’t go for high tea without reservation otherwise you would have to wait for a very long time which can be great turn off, other than that their prawns weren’t cooked very well and they can improve their range of deserts which is not bad but there is a room for improvement so over all their food is tasty and its worth the price you pay for it, ambiance is great and service is something they should be applauded for so all the Chinese fanatics should visit Yums for their high tea once.

Lokal Cafe

Looking for a fancy cafe with a variety of fast food items in reasonable price then Lokal Cafe is a right place to visit. Lokal cafe was located in F11- Markaz is a fancy place with a beautiful interior. I got to know about this cafe through social media. It is know for value of money you get there. I decided to visit this cafe along with my friends.

When we entered, the manager himself came to us and asked where we want to sit and then settle us. The staff give us the menu and we were surprised by the prices as it was too reasonable like Mushroom panini for just Rs.475, chicken lasagna for Rs. 585 and Akhri Pasta for Rs. 495. We ordered Nachos (Rs.295), Pizza Burger (Rs. 510) and Chicken Lasagna (Rs. 585). All the food items were at our table within 15 minutes.

Starting with the nachos, one of the best items to select as an appetizer. Nachos served with a fine composition of tortilla chips, lettuce, jalapenos and olives with a spicy and sour cream. The Salsa sauce gave a perfect blend of spice and taste making it a delightful appetizer. Now, coming to the pizza burger, I want to try this because it seems something interesting and worth tasting. It was one of the most creative dishes, the burger is filled up with grilled chicken and some extraordinary sauces giving it a delightful taste.

The loaded cheese topping gave the burger a pizza vibe and the entire thing was stuffed with a good amount of chicken and sauces. Now, when I tasted lasagna from my friend, it was something out of the world. It was stuffed with cream and chicken and covered in layers of lasagna strips, the dish had a delightful taste. The serving size was huge and If you prefer mild spices, this is the perfect dish for you. At last, the staff was very friendly and we all should visit this place as it is very budget friendly place.

BLT

Looking for a fancy place that fulfill your fast-food craving then Beef lettuce tomato is the right place to visit. Beef lettuce tomato commonly known as BLT is a fancy place with beautiful outdoor sitting. They have both indoor as well as outdoor sitting, they have kept there indoor interior vey fancy and very different from usual interior.

I got to know about this place from an Instagram story of a famous blogger and its interior intrigued me to go there. My first visit to this place was a disaster I ordered a cake slice as I was not in a mood to eat anything. Their j cake tasted like mud but after few days I went there with friend of mine wasn’t expecting much I ordered their parma chicken which was of 870 rupees with mashroom sauce and to my surprise it was very tasty and to be honest have become one of my favorite dish.

My friend tried their BLT homemade burger and she was happy with it too, so my first experience was maybe just a bad day because afterwards my experience with BLT has been always good they always provide good quality food which gives value for the money that you pay over there and as far as their pricing is concerned they are not too expensive but not too economical. The staff over there is friendly and if you have any issue they address it immediately so over all the verdict about this place is a YES!

BunBurry Club

BunBurry Club located in Beverly center, is a newly opened cafe, creating hype on a social media by introducing flavored teas, Nitrogen ice-cream and a live cheese option for all the fast food. After seeing all the amazing post on social media related to nitrogen ice-cream and live cheese, me and my friend decided to give this place a try.

The place was simple just like any other cafe, the cliche photo on the wall, regular chairs and table with the desert bar next to it. We all were hungry so we directly got to the menu. We were pretty sure about our order. So, we decided to order a family bowl of Nitrogen ice-cream (Rs.999) and a Streak sandwich (Rs. 499) and 2 Spicy burger with live cheese (Rs.599 for burger and Rs. 199 for Live cheese). It took 30 minutes for the order to get on the table. The Streak sandwich was normal and was not up to our expectation. But the burgers with live cheese were delicious. The bun was soft and the patty was mild and tasty.

The most amazing experience was the nitrogen ice-cream. As we order fudgy fudge nitrogen ice cream it was really tasty and mouthwatering. We can clearly feel the grainy fudge texture in it. The nitrogen drama added more value to it. The Smokey ice cream bowl was wonderful and joyful to watch. The quantity was more than enough as we were full by the time we finished the meal. The overall ambiance was quite good. And it’s a very much reasonable. At the end, one of the waiter came and asked about food and our experience.

I think it is a go to place if you want to experience a drama of nitrogen ice-cream and a live cheese. So, Hurry up Guys! Go visit BunBurry club.

Tea O' Clock

Tea O' clock as the name suggest is a place perfect for tea and a little munching with it. This place is a hidden gem in F-7 which is hard to find if you are going there for the first time I was introduced to this place from a friend of mine who is tea fanatic and has been going to this place for one years.

When you enter tea o clock the first thing you notice is its rawness. They have kept the interior very basic. It gives you a lot of forestry vibe as it is present in green belt area. They can improve their furniture a little by replacing it with something a little comfier but as this place is targeting youngster, so they are not focusing on it so as far as its prices are concerned one cup of tea cost you 100 rupees which is a little costly for a place like this but I can assure this would be the best tea you would have ever tried apart from this I tried their cheese fries that where of 200 rupees and they gave me a bucket of fries that did justice to the price.

There menu contain rolls, samosa and sandwiches which are basically snacks that you can have with tea or coffee whatever you prefer. They are considerate enough to provide you with mosquito repellent which is essential for open air places like these. The only thing missing over there is washrooms but a part from that if you are university, college student looking for a place to go with your friends then this is a place that you must try.

Café Garage

Looking for a place to chill and relax? A cafe where you can just lose yourself in the ambiance and watch all your favorite sporting events on a big screen while munching on a delectable variety of snacks and drinks. Here it is cafe garage. Which is Located just off Margalla Road in E11 Islamabad.

This is basically an automobile themed cafe whose full floor looks like road with yellow and black strips on the boundaries. There was a body of motorbike hanged on the ceiling and some of the number plates of luxury cars and sports cars placed on the window. They have also placed drum rolls, some sporty games and a car in which you can sit and click pictures with your friends. This place was suggested by one of our friend so we all decided to give this place a try.

Now coming to the food part, we ordered ultimate chicken burger, all topping pizza, Italian steak and pasta. The taste of food was okay but steaks and pasta were not up to the mark and burger was also okay but the all topping pizza was perfect which we all liked the most. After giving the order, within 20 to 25 mins, the food was on our table and in that 20 to 25 mins we played games played piano and drum rolls. Our total bill was about 4800/- the bill was this much because we went during 1-4 pm and they had deal on this time otherwise the bill would have been 6k.

But enjoying with friends a different themed cafe and experiencing the ambiance makes it worth visiting the place and worth paying this amount. One thing I want to mention is that their A/Cs were not working and the temperature of Islamabad was very hot so they should make their A/Cs workable because of the weather of Islamabad. Over all their staff was cooperative and deal with us in a mannered way. So hurry up guys don’t miss out the opportunity to visit this unique themed cafe.

Chaat Shaat

It may look like your average neighbourhood eating house, but Chaat Shaat is anything but! It is located right in the heart of Islamabad, Jinnah Super، F 7 Markaz next to What a Paratha. One Friday my friend and I decided to visit this place and we were immediately greeted by the friendly staff and incredible aroma of desi delicacies.

Chaat Shaat is a modern-day chaat stand, where you can try Gol Gappas, Fries, Roll parathas in a modern setting. It's comfortable and a little bit more up to date. They provide both inside sitting as well as outside. Their indoor sitting area is very amazing with beautiful paintings hung on the walls, chalk white furniture and some floral decorations. Along with all these things, the light background music makes the atmosphere more welcoming. The scintillating fairy lights make your meal more enjoyable in the evening.

The background music playing throughout our whole meal won my heart which makes me want to come back here again and again. Now to the food part they provide everything from samosa chaat to Cinnamon and Cardamom Tea as well as pani puri and ice-cream. We ordered their famous paperi chaat. After giving the order, within 10 to 15 minutes the chaat was on our table. I liked the way it was served and yes, the taste was marvellous. Khoka Khola

Are you looking for the fancy restaurant, where you want to try some delicious desi food?, then Khoka khola is one of them. Few months back, me and my best friend decided to visit any place where we can try something new in desi food. We were checking our social media and came to know about the butter chicken of Khoka Khola. The Butter chicken had created quite hype among the people who loves to eat desi. So, we decided to give this restaurant a try.

The restaurant is small in size but the ambiance was really nice. Some old portraits were hanging on the wall and the gazal and qawali made the ambiance more special. We order the same butter chicken with drinks and it took almost 10 minutes. The butter chicken was served with Roghani Naan. The food was exquisite and delicious with a good serving of soft, succulent chicken served in rich buttery curry left my taste buds dancing with happiness. It may have taken a while to get to my mouth, but I've found the best butter chicken in Islamabad. The quantity is enough for the two-three persons.

The staff was very cooperative and the service was very fast. The owner himself came to us and asked about our experience. The price is a little bit high as compared to other restaurants but you get value for your money with this amazing desi food. So, I think we all should go there once if we have cravings for the desi food.

Ginyaki

When we talk about Chinese eatery there are very few good eateries that you will find in Islamabad and for all Chinese food lover Ginyaki is a bliss. One day I went to roasters and I saw a new Chinese restaurant besides roasters with long line of people waiting for their table. I thought of giving it a try and believe me I didn’t regret my decision.

Ginyaki is Located on Bhittai road which has recently become a hub of new restaurants, Ginyaki has a brightly lit interior with white furniture, and beautiful mural on one side of the wall. The vibe of it is modern and classy. The restaurant offers Chinese food. There is a variety of soups and appetizers to choose from. The main entrée is part of a bowl, for which you are given three choices: Economy Bowl (one main + one side), Deluxe Bowl (one main + one side + one add-on) and Chop Suey Bowl. Mains include a variety of chicken, beef and seafood choices. Sides include the usual Egg Fried Rice, Vegetable Chow Mein, or a combination of both.

When I went there I choose economy bowl with rice and their dragon chicken and it cost me round about 700 rupees which was economical as the quantity was more than enough for one person. The staff over there was very considerate and helpful. The taste of the food was mind blowing and after paying them you feel happy because they give you more value then you expect for that money which makes it my go to place whenever I crave for Chinese food.
